Looks like the AMRC has met and has made some changes that were recommended by the NSA. I have copy and pasted them into what is already there so it will read right. No Bulletin has been done by CAMS yet but it should look something like what is below. This isn't official yet but it won't be too far away I would think.
9.1 Gear Box - 125cc, and 250cc/450cc: These classes shall be open to karts fitted with two-stroke engines (or, in the case of 250/450cc National Karts, four-stroke engines). Permitted engines are identified as being the OEM engine cases that carry an indented, stamped manufacturer’s or owner’s identification code or number and are subject to one of the following:
(i) being normally fitted to production motorcycles;
(ii) Previously and/or currently homologated for use in karting by the FIA/CIK,
(iii)MSA/BSA approved engines for use in the United Kingdom, which are recommended to the AMRC by the NSA prior to listing.
(iv) approved for use by the Australian Motor Race Commission.
"It is compulsory for dry slick tyres and wet weather tyres used on 250cc Gearbox class Superkarts (refer to section 9.3) to be:
iii) It is compulsory for tyres used on 250cc Gearbox class Superkarts (refer section 9.3) to be:
• fitted to 6" diameter rims;
• selected from 6" tyres that are subject to current or previous homologation by the FIA/CIK;"
• comply with the FIA/CIK regulations for Superkart (Group I - Division 1 and 2);
• bear the "CIK" or "CIK/SK ICE" marking.

Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
With the tyre changes, it allows people to use previously CIK homologated tyres that there is nothing wrong with. This came up at Phillip Island where very few people had legal wet weather tyres for the wet races. Wets dont get used very often( in Queensland anyhow) and they go out of date every 3 years under the CIK system. A common sense move.
These changes have taken over 6 months to get through from start to finish. Its a slow process but it gets there in the end.
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
When the EVO motors are approved by CAMS can I fit an EVO cylinder to my CR250 as they are both approved?
Regards
Allan.
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
if I remember rightly, a Honda CR250 in its later years was about 66.4mm bore. From what I have seen, all these EVO engines are 68mm bore. This will mean you will have a swept volume of more than 250cc. We need to look at what the BSA supply us with before we know 100% what is available.
Howerer, I did think think that EVO engine kits were being made for the standard stroke CR. Quite cheap as well.
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
THR have a 66.4mm bore option for their cylinder and so will fit the standard CR250 bottom-end. Not a bad stepping stone for the CR250 owners while the EVO motors prove themselves.
It might also be possible to convince THR to make the cylinder multi fit to say a YZ or KTM with enough demand??

We all know the shit fight we had to get the Hoosiers in.
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
I gave you the shortened version that I knew of but the official wording hasn't come out yet.
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
Unless, I am misunderstanding your intent; :-\ I would have thought that going back to the club members to decide the rules that govern their sport is the right way to go before giving the NSA their decision to act on. :)
We have a very delicate balance to find in the National class at the moment while we see how the EVO motors perform. I, for one do want to see the current National drivers walk away because the class gets too expensive to compete in. :'(
The cost for a complete EVO motor is reasonable but not cheap and the National class drivers are generally a budget class. I know you understand that and hence why I think I must not be understanding you correctly. :-*
We really have to sort out the National class rules before approving any new motors so that we select the right options for this class to grow, not shrink. :o

Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
Just saying.....this could be turn out to be a long ride......I hope not for everyone's sake.
FYI,
This was the actual wording rejected;
"The chassis must be past or present CIK homologated which bears the manufacturer’s CIK tag intact on the chassis."
This is how I reword to have it accepted by the Thesaurus Dept.
"The chassis shall be CIK homologated and which bears the manufacturer’s CIK tag intact on the chassis. If the chassis is not currently CIK homologated, documented proof must be presented that the chassis was previously CIK homologated."
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
Is the onus on the competitor to prove it?
Just saying as this was driven home to me from CAMS technical for Stock Honda chassis regs that's why it was included that "documented proof must be presented that the chassis was previously CIK homologated" within the regulations. This is not included for the engine regs.
As far as saga is concerned, thank god I no longer read/respond/propose to the continual bullsh*t / personal agendas that tears apart the sport.
Re: CAMS Superkart Technical Regulations
I believe the onus is on the competitor to prove it. I would have thought CAMS would keep records of them but .................. I won't go there now. Older CIK/ FIA approvals are quite easy to find for the last 10 years or so. Link is here http://www.cikfia.com/regulations/homologation.html then go into "Homologated Equipment" and it lists everything from 2004 - 2022 for some things.
I was surprised with the wording as well with the "previously and currently" but thats what they have printed.
