We were broken into late last week and had 3 karts stolen. One was a restored HKS chassis. I am posting this on behalf of Greg and Don Smith to try and help get that chassis back!
I will post some photos of the other chassis in the next few days but attached is a picture of the HKS.
Please keep an eye out for any of these karts and let us know if you hear or see anything. The Mini ROK doesn't have a carby on it so it is impossible to use.
Thank you
Please Help Don Smith
Everyone in the Australian karting world would have heard of Don Smith, Father figure of Greg Smith from Tony Kart Australia / Baron Engine Developments. A nicer, more Genuine person would be hard to find.
On the 4th of May, a burglary occurred at Baron Engine Developments in Braeside, Victoria. Three racing karts were stolen on the night. Unfortunately, one of them was a fully restored Vintage Kart of Don Smiths; and frankly it was his pride and Joy. It was a full replica of a Kart used by Greg In 1973 to win one of his Australian championships.
Don Smith was shattered to say the least.
We would like to think the good people of Australian Karting would help Don recover this Kart.
It is a Benson HKS chassis , complete with Nylon wheels, and fitted with a Komet K77 engine. It is in running condition, although it has never been on a circuit since its full restoration. The karts stolen were not by karters (we think) and therefore useless to anyone but Don.
A reward is offered. Please find a picture of this kart, surely not hard to recognise by anyone.
As a matter of course the other two karts stolen were:
Tony Kart Rocky 900 , complete with Vortex mini ROK engine, and Alfano Dash ( complete less carburettor) kart had # 47 and also Dunlop SL1 tyres.
Tony Kart Rocky 900, complete with Rotax Micro Max engine & Micron Dash. Kart had no nosecone sticker and # 7 on it.
So, Please all keep a look out for Dons pride and joy, and get this kart back to him.
