Hi Guys, just thought I'd ask out there what other Victorians are going to do about Kart and Equipment transport to QLD. The thought of driving all that way makes me want to slit my wrists!!
Also does anyone know what pit gear we need to take like EZY Ups/flooring and generators etc?
Cheers

From the phone calls I have fielded that seems to be the concensus.

My larger concern is what we need to bring.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
I very much doubt that the limited garages at QLD Raceway will be allocated by Shannon's to the Superkart catergory so that will mean you should prepare/ready for;
1) Shelter/Ezi-up
2) Generator/Power
..... unless the SKA are arranging for either or both items for it's competitors...... which I don't think anyone would know as yet.
One thing for sure, pack a spare blue box. QLD Raceway was not kind to ignitions......ask Ant or myself. ;D
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Thanks fullysick. The budget trucks only have a 100km allowance per day and like I said, I aint driving all that way, it's too much time off work. Well make a crate and frieght them up and back.
My larger concern is what we need to bring.

Scott that price break down allowed for the 100 ks a day, you pay for the extra k's but it only costs around 1k each. If you don't want to drive to Queensland then maybe a hired gun can do it ;D
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Crate it up, send it TNT to our warehouse ..
We will have my father in laws transporter there with all facilities ... Alternatively you can freight all your gear up, hire a van from the airport and pick everything up ..
Your more than welcome to pit with me if that helps ...
Yes Sammy definetly need to bring a spare ignition with me this time :)

My "unofficial" reporter told of a BIG off between Hossack and McIlvene on lap three, both drivers were seen walking from the karts and appear to be ok. Wonder if they can continue????
And what about Zavaglia 3rd in his Stock Honda?
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Was a big hit into turn 4 both drivers ok. Darren raced in the next event and warren was his usual calm self surveying the damage.

Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
My engine was running like a bag of shit all day and so many blokes were more than happy to give time and advice to help. Thanks heaps to Garry, Stocky, Dave Hepworth and Scott Ellis for throwing me the parts and advice I needed and my trusty mechanic Jason Shaw for busting his guts all day.
All in all a crap day but having great people around can make a big difference.
Cheers,
Jason.

This should not take away from Jason Smith though who was fast in both rounds and raced better than I have ever seen him.
For me big thanks to all that helped keep my chin up in what can only described as a crap weekend with shit luck. Carlo Jason Shaw, Vinnie, you guys rock.
Jase.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
And SKA is not to blame for what the officials did.
Congrat's to the winners, Jason, Brendan, and Jeff.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Yes, it is upsetting to see this type of result. For sure, nobody is perfect and we need to respect the time and money that it takes to compete at this level when an official decide on a penalty so severe.
I guess Gary was dammed if he did pull in and find out what it was all about and dammed he if he ignored the black flag.
Given that penalties can be retrospective, I do not know why common sense did not prevail and they investigated it after the race had finished. That way, if there was unknown or disputed circumstances, they could have moved either way.
As it was, Gary had no chance to defend himself in the situation - dammed if you do; dammed if you don't.
The officials really need to see this sport for what it is and give a little grace –It is not Formula 1 and there are no sheep stations up for grabs – just average hard working guys have a little fun and spending precious money to do that!
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Cameron not quite the story we are getting, for them to decide that he has committed an offence even before the race has officially started is very high handed. Their attitude really stunk and the penalty did not fit the crime, when everyone in the field was doing the same thing. The pace car was the one at fault as it is supposed to keep to the same speed, 80-85 Kph is the speed stipulated in the manual, unless it is varied at drivers briefing. The pace car was doing 60 and slowing to 40 kph so they are the ones that were at fault. So a driver gets penalized because the officials do not know the rules. We have probably lost another one from the sport because of incompetent officials. We all know who is the real Champion Gary, plus a lap record with an engine that you have developed yourself, something to be proud of.
[/quote]
Graeme you weren't there so big statements from second hand information is about all you are posting. Try having as much class as Gary did and don't go around making bullshit statements like "we all know who the real champion is". The racing was hard all weekend between the four fast guys. For you to say things like that shows a total lack of respect for not only Jason Smith who had nothing to do with the bullshit black flag, but also for Gary who is well above making bullshit statements like that.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Some advice for the groupie that felt like sharing his 2 cents after race 2,
TELL SOMEONE THAT CARES..............1300 Helpline.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
They deserve recognition too you know.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Tyrrell 2nd Walsh 3rd
Bass 2nd not sure 3rd
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
250 Nat was Brendon, Joe and Bernie, I think
125 was Jeff, Matt Bass, and Paul Campbell I think in third.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
From the last two posts its as clear as mud now................
;D

Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Looks like I'll wait for the SKA site.
Got it now and happy
;D
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
You guys really don't need to speak for Wizzer. He does a pretty good job of doing that himself as we all heard in his speech!!!
We saw some fantastic racing this weekend and should all give ourselves a pat on the back.
Congratulations Jason. You drove a consistent championship with all podium places and I believe you "managed" your QR round as we had planned to and didn't really see the point in racing too hard to win every race. I could be wrong but that's what I believe.
Sam, you were right in that QR is hard on ignitions.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship

Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
2 people I didn't thank whilst at the podium presentation was Ian from Viper racing and Darren, how the hell he jumps out of that 850 hp monster with a cabin temp of 65 deg for 18 laps, changes jammies and into the inter ill never know. They are both so different in every way. At least he got pole, the lap record and 3 out of 3 wins for the weekend in the sports sedan.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
I'm just in transit at Singapore Airport in the process of the gruelling flight home after a very enjoyable, if tiring few days.
A big thank you to the whole Australian Superkart franternity for making me feel most welcome, yet again.
Congratulations to the worthy Champions in all 3 classes, a credit to our sport and great ambassodors for the future.
I would like to offer my personal thanks to Ant and Tana for their hospitality whilst in Queensland and it was my pleasure (and primary reason for my visit) to race engineer for Ant, over the weekend. After a couple of small issues in the first 2 sessions (stuck throttle and crank sensor failure), Ant had a great run, his times improving with every outing on track, just really unfortuante that he had to pull out of the last race with a split head cover giving him a hot shower 2 laps from the flag.
Of course I was also there to assist the SAFE team of Wayne/Scott/Darren/Marty. The boys all done good and we all gave it our best shot and it is a pleasure to be associated with such great people.
Over the weekend (as with any Championship chase), there were lots of "if only" stories and of course without the unfortunate accident with Warren, The Championship win . . . . . ah well, s**t happens, there's always next year.
Special thanks to the organising club in putting on a well run and enjoyable meeting. It can be a thankless task at times, but without organisers you don't have racing.
Best Regards
Ian :)
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
My start was crap and that made life hard for myself to catch back up.
Had a great time, learnt alot and there's always someone there to race hard with throughout the field.

Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
or 5 that were in that pack were a pleasure to race with. I had an absolute ball and did not remove ( or have
removed ! ) one bit of paintwork for the whole weekend. ;)
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
It was awesome to race hard with competitors that you have trust in not to wipe you out.
Dean, Brett and Shannon you guys all did a awesome job and thanks for putting up with my in experience in a Superkart if I moved a little too close at times.
Cant wait to catch up and do it all over again :)
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
You should be proud of your efforts on the weekend. You drove well, close, clean and I don't have any tyre marks to clean off.
Cheers,
Brett
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
The facts are, that the whole superkarting start and saftey car restarts were brought under close scrutinee by the race stewards after a protest lodged by Sam Zavagilia in race 2 Sunday morning on another 125cc competitor. The race results were delayed as the stewards reviewed and got supporting statements from other competitors. In all an hour of their time was chewed up on this matter. Till that point the race Stewards admitted they had no issue with the superkart starting proceedures, but now would looking at the whole field very closely.
Phillip Is rnd 1 saw some of the best 125cc GB racing in many years, 6 karts never more than a kart length apart, and most of those competitors were eagley looking forward to this again at QLD rd2.
Sadly, after the race 2 saftey car re-start and the segragation of the 125 field, it was not meant to be.
The ramifacations of that action, certainly caused a travasty to occur with a unwarranted black flag being issued to GaryP.
Congrats to all the winners, there was some great close hard racing in all the catagories and maybe there is a lesson here to be learned about storming up to the stewards room.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
Great effort mate, you should be proud of your results,
also well said Craig
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
If you are still scratching your head about the Race Steward's decision to ping Garg for a saftey car restart issue, and why it seems an "out of the blue" or "random" decision... well it is not so strange...

Is that really what happendd? Did Sam really do that? Did someone witness that and are you that person or just like many other things on the weekend (including the one that had my name attached to it) is it all just Chinese whispers and therefore bull shit?
What about all the passing under yellows, that wasn't addressed at all.
Re: RD 2 Shannons SK Championship
And yes you are right, every race meeting there is a number of things happen that the Stewards seem to miss or we are agrieved about, Passing under yellow's, no blue flags, etc, etc , but do will storm up to the stewards office and protest them all. !!
Gary P was the one that got shafted.. he probably lost this championship, we just lost 4 grid positions...
