Hi I’m mostly new to everything to do with karting and I’m not sure this is the right place to ask but I am working on a go kart for a school project and I have a racing frame but I am up to mounting an engine and I am sort of stumped. I have just a 6.5hp engine and I have seen that people usually use a cheap, simple mounting plate from eBay or some other place which is just a metal plate with the correctly drilled out holes to mount to the engine to and then weld the plate to the frame. The problem is the only ones I can seem to find are from America which means they are a bit too expensive and will take too long and ones that Won’t fit my engine. I was wondering if anyone has any ways I can get one relatively soon and for a fair price or I should try and make one myself? Thanks

Commercial Mounts
Hi Ryan, and welcome to karting.
Engines on racing karts are normally mounted via a bracket that is moveable and tightened to the two tubes on the frame. The reason this is important is because if you change gearing (sprocket size) or installing a new chain it will stretch and need adjusting (otherwise you risk the chain slipping off and losing drive). You will see on your frame there should be a long adjusting nut that also pushes against this bracket to help lock into position.
Suggest you have a look on karting store websites for things like this:

There is a list of karting shops on this website or you can try your luck on ebay or facebook market.
I hope this helps.
