Getting info about the test is like pulling teeth. From our Club pres here in QLD word on the street is 'test was all good ' Warren did a 2.33 in the wet. Would love to know more but thats it so far. Cameron
pictures are being downsized as we speak, a report and pics will be on the NSW website very shortly. The test was a success for all categories. The place erupted each time the webmasters went up the main straight with clapping, cheering, arms waving. The pit wall was standing room only.
Warren stayed at my place last night and so we watched it on the big plasma. ;D The footage is super clear but is on "old school" video tape so I cant upload it until someone converts it to digital file. They went out on wets as it looked like it was going rain any second but it stayed dry. The kart went all good at every point of the track, no scraps or anything through the dipper.....infact what dipper. The first lap he was warming the engine as they were sent out by surprise and on last lap he was going slow as the wets were torn by the dry track. The second lap was 230kph down the straight into the chase with Phillip Island gearing being used.
at a total loss as how this place can be declared safe for webmasters when a place like Broadford originaly built for webmastering can be deemed unsafe.
"The place erupted each time the webmasters went up the main straight with clapping, cheering, arms waving. " ::)
Gmac why shouldn't the place be declared safe for webmasters. that is what this process is all about. A risk assessment was carried out which was then discussed at length by a group of people. May I say that the risk assessment was one of the best that I have seen and was a credit to the people that put it together. The next step was to get a group of drivers to do a few laps to confirm the results of the risk assessment and to give the group more feedback. When the feedback is collated the group will meet again and make a recommendation to CAMS. After talking to Gary Pegoraro today, he was full of praise for the track. The reason that Broadford has no CAMS track Licence is that it has no first line of protection, that is no tyre walls etc to protect the drivers or the spectators. And no Broadford was not built specifically for webmasters.
yes it was built for webmasters, even Vic club purchased a caravan for a timing shed and left it there . Yes it does have tyre walls from spectators where spectators would watch. Some places not which are not accesible for spectator veiwing anyway , and here is nothing stopping someone from preventing spectators from veiwing in those areas anyway. Happens at Calder and PI all the time. Reason Broadfrod has no CAMS accred has a few reasons but mainly due to not wanting CAMS dictate to them how they should run and operate a track they own.
CAMS seem to have no problems holding sprints and hill climbs there, 250 GP bikes also race as do many other forms of bikes including sidecars.
I sent NKA down there and they pretty much approved it un officially straight off , took photo's sent it there insurer and no probs. If AKA approve it shortly then who is going to miss out?
Mal please get your facts right, Broadford was built by MV and the Victorian webmaster Club approached them and asked if we could get the place licenced for webmasters. After a CAMS inspection the Club did the necessary work to get the track licenced. Yes we took a caravan up there to use as a canteen, not a timing box. They already had a control tower. When one of the adjoining property owners who was having a blue with MV, found out that the town planning permit only allowed up to three wheeled vehicles not four wheeled, we had to leave. WE had been there about three years. After many trips up to council meetings over many years we finally managed to get the town planning permit changed, this had taken about six years. When we applied for a new track licence the track had been extended and safety standards had changed. An inspection was carried out with MA and CAMS and a list of works was agreed to. When we tried to do the work MA reneged on the deal even though the circuit does not meet their own guidelines. Thats where we now sit yes it is licenced for a hillclimb but the safety standard for a hillclimb and a Race Circuit are diifferent. If you can get it licenced by the AKA good luck to you, but I am not sure how the AKA can licence a track of that length as they are delegated the power to run sprint karting by CAMS and they will probably see this as the AKA overstepping their authority. And maybe so will the Vic Coroner who already has an interest in Broadford.
Nope, I am going to take this to PM as your just spreading too many half truths to even retort to in public..
The coroner would have no more interest in Broadford as NSW coroner would at Bathurst and I honestly would not expect anything less than for you to go running to Vic DSR and DSE.
Poor old Mal, you hit him with the real facts and he will not believe them. Maybe I will invite him around and show him the file on Broadford. Mal I am not like you running to DSR and using the cover of a fictitious club to slag off the NSW Club and accuse them of something which was proved wrong. Maybe the reason the Vic Coroner is interested in Broadford is that it has had more deaths than any other circuit in Australia, fact. One being an ex-webmasterer. Now Mal lets get back on the topic, if you haven't got any good things to say about webmastering please leave and annoy some other people. Remember a lot of things happened before you came on the scene and a lot of things have happened since you left the official scene. I hope I don't get any SMS threats to fire bomb my house like you did to Lee after he disagreed with you.
Do you even have a look at any of the facts before you started dribbling??? Next time you and me are at the track together come and see me im in #99 in nsw and ill hand you a box of kleenex to wipe the shit off your chin!!!!!!
Your the type of goose that this sport doesnt need and doesnt want. You have no idea the amount of work that has gone into this for the TEST to even happen, the amount of time and effort that VOLUNTEERS and time of work that the boys have taken off work not to mention the amount of time spent on the phone with cams the promoter and all involved. And all you can do is bad mouth it.
Ill tell you what IF cams approve the webmasters to run at bathurst in the future. You dont have to come you can stay at home and play at home and you can save the money you would spend going racing on internet credit so you can keep stiring the pot on the forum like a 10 yr old child would ( cause i reckon thats about your mentallity)
nice work boy's sounds like things went well all things considered, bit of luck 60 of us will get to have a taste of the mountain soon enough.
Graeme first you'll get the "I'm going to beet you up" text then the "I'll burn your house to the ground" text will follow a couple of weeks later

I was the person who got Mal his first banning from the old KA site many years ago. he sent me PM's threatening all sorts of things so I published them, exit an unhappy Mal. He sent a PM to a mate who now contributes to this forum and old mate threatened to pay him a visit, Mal never replied.
man you guys are full of crap. Bombing houses and threating to beat people up ? Like I would give you a warning. Laughable. I would encourage you to take it up with the proper authorities then .
Nat22. re " I will take this up with CAMS on AKA over stepping "
And you tell me has nothing to do with politics. Go running to DSR then. I imagine you have them on speed dial round place.
Chris, Lee, your both full of it. What mate and who did I send PM or text to? who said they were going to pay me a visit ? send them round then. Tell me who it was and I will happily reply , I will even give them my address .
no one is interested in having a blue with you in fact no one is all that interested in much of what you have got to say at all
Chris
Mal thought you were me, most people he has had a go at on this forum he thought they were me, I was on the SWG when the 80's were deleted and he blames me for the class dying in Vic
Back on thread 60 karts across all classes at bathurst can only be a good thing for the sport, promotional possibilities are huge. again well done peoples
Mal, Gmac, your prior identities and getting in early for your future identities. Why don't you just take a hike. People try to have a discussion and all you do is be a disruptive shit. Do you notice your not mentioned when your not around.......your not that important buddy. Can't even call you a hasbeen, your not worthy of even that title. If you feel so strongly about things, why don't you pay a membership to a webmaster club and be worthy to have a voice.
Thanks to all those involved that got this done, look forward to the results, a great effort for webmasters, also a big smile ;D and thankyou to the the guys that put their webmasters on the track for us and collected the data, well done, cheers Doc
So if things progress as they should and the track licence is amended to accommodate webmasters, what event do we realistically have a chance of getting on the bill of?
just for my own curiosity in round numbers what would an event cost to stage at bathurst?
I was after more of a track hire fee, permit fee, and any associated cost's in manning and running an event?
I just want to get an idea the price difference to hold an event at phillip Island (a permanent GP track) and one of the best semi permanent tracks in the world

It would be the best $1000.00 I ever spent. After 5-8 laps i'd have achieved eternal happiness. Onya Wayne and the rest, don't give up. Ps. Do these forums have an ignore button....? might need it for Mr Doom n Gloom.
In the original story I think I may have suggested first wings/slicks category to run at the circuit in 40 years, not so much really. The F5000s and AF2s of the day wouldn't have had either wings or slicks. Technically it would be first ever, although the moment it gets approved, if it gets approved, Formula 3 will be banging on the door.
after hearing the gearboxs screaming through the gears across the mountain and hurtling down conrod up throught the gears it was bloody excellent!!!!! it was a sound that will never be forgotten well done to the drivers and all envolved

From what I heard of the test from Gary over the weekend it went very well.
Yep the crowd and promoter loved it..
Well done to the NSW club for getting the sport so far with this,
Our club wishes you all success in getting delivered.
