Yes it's over 1.5 days. Separated GB and NGB fields. Carport provided (2 in each) BBQ meal included with drivers entry on the Saturday arvo/evening at the track. $250.00 Entry
* On the Saturday qualifying will be Saturday lunch for both fields. Saturday arvo will have race 1 for both GB and NGB fields. The QLDers made a fantastic suggestion to us that we're running with. Whilst ALL races go towards the AASA Australian Nationals point score, Race 1 on Saturday arvo will be a winner take all for ALL classes to win the "Stephen (Blacky) Blackburn Memorial Race". These 6 1st place trophies will be presented at the Saturday arvo BBQ. I know those trophies will mean a lot to so many in NSW.
Any chance the drivers briefing can be moved to just before qualifying to allow us "boss is an ahole can't get a day off Victorians" to travel up early Saturday morning???
I'm working on the extra info as we speak. I'll have it emailed out and on here tomorrow night.
Hi Nathan
No problem, we'll aim for a drivers briefing (subject to Wakefield approval) for maybe around 11.00Am? (Qualifiers start around 12.00). Outside of that, no biggie, I'll line up we do a separate briefing afterwards if need be for any people who can't arrive till late.
Of course for all, also feel free to call me anytime with any questions on 0468 472402, or email me at shaun972@optusnet.com.au
AASA logbooks for this meeting will only be enforced on NSW members. I've had discussions about this and found out that other states don't have the logbook rule.
As NSW has had this rule for around 3 years, NSW competitors know it is a requirement.
It was decided not to burden competitors from other states with the extra $35.00 cost for possibly 1 race meeting.
All karts will be looked at though, logbook or not, and the AASA will accept this as our scrutineers will advise any issues prior to karts taking to the circuit.
He had to double check a few things and was getting back to me today. Having a sneak peek now at work so I should be able to put something on here either later today or tonight.
I can confirm that the Friday is an allocated practice day for categories participating in the event.
Track record has shown that they'll charge $140.00 to practice, and with that we'll get 5 x 15 min sessions that will equate to around 70 laps over the day.
I will be coming over to race in the Stock Honda class - it would be good to have the current CAMS champion to race with Dalton; and of course Mr. Stock Honda himself, Sam. How about it Sam - should be a great meeting if the many Stock Honda drivers turn up for the AASA National Title??? Also, did I mention the home track advantage you and Dalton will have ??? ;) :)
I have heard 5 from Vic and there should be around ten in NSW plus the three from QLD and is it one from SA as well? Good numbers anyway. Its gong to be hard to get one up on the NSW guys on their home track, there are plenty of fast guys down there looking at some of the times. Ant, best you ring Sam about why he isn't going to be there.
Sounds like there will close to 19 entries or more :) - should be fun :D Home track advantage should be worth something for the NSW boys so we better take notes quickly ;)
Quote from Sam's Stock Honda document: Wakefield Park Recommended Gearing 19/23 or 19/24
Quote from Sam's Stock Honda document: Wakefield Park Recommended Gearing 19/23 or 19/24
Using the SharkShifter 20T offset front sprockets now as x-ring chain is way to tight on the cases with a 19T straight drive gear. Shark have 19T, 20T and 21T offsets available for this purpose. In any case, I only use 20T front, the question is will you use 23T or 24T rear with it. ;)
Alan choice of rubber is easy we run what we all agreed on, the SL6. Although I hear that there are some Vic guys that plan on turning up on soft rubber and dont seem to give a shit about the gentleman's agreement. Pretty sad really.
Don`t like to throw a spanner in the works but I did hear mumblings of maybe rubber listed in sub regs ????????????????????????? ::) ::) Maybe someone needs to come clean before there is a shit fight..
Ant that is what everyone else bar a few Vic guys think. Now thanks to these guys PIL Is tearing his hair out and the guys that put all the hard work and money into the class don't seem yo matter. There is always someone to fuck it up.
Yes, I am in agreement with Rolf – it needs to be in the rules to avoid any animosity - which we don’t need to destroy the fun of this class. :'(
I am running SL6's because I have them and I agree with the original concept - but if there was a clear advantage in terms of speed, I would be silly to run them at a Title event if the front runners are running MG's for example - we all know this - the cost difference for tyres is small compared to the travelling / race expenses.
If the supp regs quote the tyre make to run; will they also limit the quanity to 6 ???
Go to Tender for the class tyre and everyone wins. :D
Hi Owen, Is your Top Gun running in this class at Wakefield ??? I hope so :)
Alan you are right in what you say, It needs to go in the rules as some blokes just cant help them selves. Its a pretty simple concept to grasp really, we all run the same rubber we agreed on and nobody has an advantage. If anyone shows up and has MG yellow on they are weak as piss and obviously don't think they can be at the front on a level playing field. I'm running SL6 but will now have to go and get another set of yellows so that I have all bases covered. You can see why this would give people the shits.
Jase if it is in the Supp Regs that you must run SL6's to score points in the Championships then the bases are covered. If they turn up with MG's then they are running for nothing. This is the only way it can be done until a set tyre is put in the rules.
How about I clear this up right now....... We can't change the rules in time and there appears some who will never abide by a gentleman's agreement (not surprising in life anymore) so it is as the rules were approved by CAMS......OPEN TYRE. I'll be running SL6. All is not lost as we can use the results to help amend the rules to the agreed control tyre concept next year. The data will be a big help to make decision on the brand we eventually settle on. We should all keep to the 3 front 3 rear tyre rule for the meet.....or is that just 6 in total..? Thoughts.....? We are looking at QLD=3 VIC=5 NSW=5 SA=1 I propose we get together after race 1 and have a mini SH meeting to discuss our future direction. Pil
We should all keep to the 3 front 3 rear tyre rule for the meet.....or is that just 6 in total..? Thoughts.....?
That's what the rules say and everybody at Mallala knows this. TYRES: Any 5” diameter racing kart tyres may be used on 5" diameter rims. A maximum of 3 individual front and 3 individual rear tyres (6 tyres total) are allowed per race meeting, marked prior to qualifying.
Tyres got marked at Mallala checked after each race in parc ferme and also at dumbie grid. So most got the grasp on how it works. These are the Stock Honda rules, deal with it. Don't go butchering it up from one meeting to the next or one sporting body to the next. Get it sorted in the rulebook if your not happy with it. Changing the tech regs in the supp regs is absolute bulldust and I will mow anyone's event down who tries this crap. What next you put in the supp regs, no DEA engines allowed in 250 Inter class? This is how the tyre regs needed to be so we could even have a set of Stock Honda rules today. Be happy that we got our own rules, be happy you can still choose whilst the class is still finding it's feet. What is not fair about the rule? Everyone can pick and choose, but choose wisely, it may be very hot and you only have 3x3 tyres to play with.
Bullshit, put it in and fix it if you can. Why wait two or three years for CAMS to act on it. Ill just bring four sets of yellows unless someone can point out to me where it is set in stone that I need to follow CAMS rules at a AASA nationals. fuck why is this so hard >:(
Jase, Pick up the phone to any CAMS category with a single control item of this or that and you will see there needs to be a tender process done first so no potential supplier can cry foul they were not at least given the opportunity to bid. I don't think the AMRC will ever let it through otherwise (job for Degan to investigate). It is a restriction of trade issue that nearly got CAMS in hot water if they didn't relent when ELF WRF rally fuel given the sole fuel allowed and ET Racing Fuels came in and sorted this out legally.
Now nearly every control item on the "Car of the Future" V8 Supercars is tendered out for suppliers to bid and win from body panels to suspension items and even the Dunlop tyre! :D
The other way around is to have a selection of say 4 different tyres to choose from like in Rotax Max.
And yes, if you want to just do your own controlled rules for this event because this is AASA Nationals and not CAMS Nationals thus no CAMS rules apply, go for it, that will only make the status of a win cheaper by crapping all over the National rule set for the class.
Sam you know I won't bring four sets. I was making a point. what pisses me off is that I have to now get MG yellows for one meeting because we are bending for the minority. Not just one set but two so I can have two spares. This is bullshit.
So Jase, all the guys who went to Mallala on MG yellows with half used tyres can't to use them at Wakefield? You can use MG Yellows, you can use Dunlop DES 5", you can use Hoosier R60A 5"........you can use them this meeting next meeting, any meeting.
The fact is that the tyre rule will be addressed by the competitors to be whatever you guys want, you won't wait 2-3 years for CAMS to do anything, you have a class now and a simple amendment to the regs will not take long if everyone is happy with whatever outcome may be.
Don't stress Jase, run whatever tyre you want, you won't get stuck with tyres you can't use up and waste. I believe the squirrel has Mallala MG's (2x new and 4x used) he would like to use up at this event......but better asking him not listening to my goss on what he may be doing.

Re: 2013 AASA Australian Nationals !
Do you require karts to be AASA log booked ?
In QLD at AASA event we don't but I do remember reading something from NSW club that you guys all run log books at AASA events.
Is this something we need to pre arrange prior to meet or is it available to process on sign in on the day.
Cheers mate,
Ant
