Hello everyone, Following a lengthy period of negotiations with promoters and circuit managements, Superkarts Australia is very proud to announce an exciting 2016 SUPERKARTS AUSTRALIA NATIONALS CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES What is it? A 3 ROUND NATIONALS SERIES for the finest superkarts and drivers to contest top level racing at the best venues. Some rounds again with Shannons Nationals, and all rounds are CAMS permit events with the same licencing requirements as in the past for 250International, 250National and 125National gearbox classes. Where and When? Round 1 - NSW Sydney Motorsport Park GP Circuit – MAY 27-29th 2016 Round 2 - VIC Phillip Island GP Circuit – SEPTEMBER 9-11th 2016 Round 3 - NSW Sydney Motorsport Park GP Circuit – NOVEMBER 11-13th 2016
The rounds will be quite similar to previous SKA events in racing format, with some improvements to sporting aspects while maintaining good value for competitors. Sporting Regulations to be released in the New Year will detail a revamped exciting championship racing format. There will be provision for competitors to discard some poor race results and SKA intends to include some ‘level the playing field’ and cost saving initiatives. Making this announcement about the Nationals Series before competitors go to their christmas-new year breaks has been a strong focus but delayed by those negotiations concluding, and further details are to be released as they become sanctioned by SKA and CAMS. “I tell you folks, it’s harder than it looks...” is a great song line and describes it well! CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION: Again in 2016 SKA will provide an optional Championship Registration and Deposit Scheme for competitors. It will operate similar to previous years and we will be in contact again early in the New Year. So we all need a break, and leave you with that great news! For the Festive Season we wish you all a very safe and enjoyable time celebrating with family and friends a Merry Christmas and some Happy New Year celebrations . SKA Nationals Series Team Phil, Anton, Mark, Pam, Graeme and John
I do not know where this question might go ... so it lands here.
When the site owner/administrator updates it again what about including the 2 NGB class national Champions in the title ??
These guys won classes with a real championship on the line, and these 2 classes now account for 50% of all Superkart license holders in the country. So how about some recognition amongst their peers -- and recognition of the classes that truly are supporting the sport.
The two winners just happen to be South Aussies from 2015, and at the SA CAMS state awards dinner they will be given recognition for their efforts by the controlling body. Why are we so petty that they are not afforded their due by our own ??
And in case no-one knows much about them, for the NGB light class champion Johnathon French it was his second title after winning in 2013 , and the NGB heavy champion Brandon Stillwell is was his third in a row having won the CAMS nationals in 2013 and the AASA nationals in 2014.
Owen, I think Ian talking about the post at the top of homepage, but yes i agree. All NGB and Stock Honda National champs should be acknowledged in the same way the Australian Champions have been. I mean as of this year they will ALL be National Champions! Just depends what series or event you run in.
Ian, was not intentional to leave the 125ngb competitors out. I guess it doesn't help that the NGB and gearbox have there own seperate national events and for me personally I look at superkarting as a gearbox sport, not taking anything away from the NGB competitors it's just my opinion as when I orig looked at getting involved in this category I was only interested in gearbox karts. It's easy to overlook this class too, have a read of the latest Auto Action magazine. There's a good size spread on superkarting and some basic history statements without any inclusion of NGB. I will remind myself to take more interest and notify the results on the home page equally for all class's in the future.
Superkarting is such a small category, it requires all the help it can get and rather than seperating what we do have, it should all be combined so that it can be marketed and promoted to its fullest. Every class has its pros/cons and superkarting certainly has a class on offer for all budgets.
Down here in Vic the Stock Hondas beat pretty much all 125GB's that bother to turn up to club days. We turn up every club day, support our sport and are left to organise our own nationals. Pretty shit really. The SKA reminds me of AKA. If your in, your in. If your out, your out.
Hi Nathan, Why don't the Stock Honda guys get together and talk to the SKA about becoming part of the new series - now would be a good time to open the dialogue :)
I know this has already been suggested to Pil too.

I would also love to see the non-gearbox involved with the Shannons Series –I am sure there are others people who want the same thing too. :)
Allan, I got 4 or 5 Stock Hondas to Shannon's Nationals Event and I personally sponsored their trophies. It directly helped the SKA bottom line, they had zero expense but 4 or 5 entries at "full price" that SKA would not have not normally had. Two SKA Directors then expressed their negative opinions of Stock Honda karts racing as 125GB at "their" meeting......now they wish they were back? What's a matter SKA.....numbers now too low? Those karts were 100% legally entitled to enter and race in the 125GB class which they did.
So where's their apology to the Stock Honda group? Such shameless people!
Just a memory refresher for you Alan, it hasn't be just once that Stock Honda have supported SKA at Shannon's rounds, don't take my word for it, take a look at the Natsoft results for confirmation.
Dare I add that at least two of the SKA directors were also the biggest road blocks trying to use their influence with their CAMS contacts/buddies to NOT have Stock Honda as their own class within the CAMS Superkart rulebook. I got plenty of documentation created by them on that regard, I can air it out with the documents they created if you like to see them.
I'd have a guess that Stock Honda entrants have been supporting their respected state clubs because the clubs are the ones that have been supporting them.

And then the clubs suffer with reduced entries and people treating their events as test sessions... Buggered either way mate.
So who is in control here ??? On one hand we have a one weekend nationals - the other hand is attempting to run a 3 weekend nationals over several months ?!?!
2 answers to the same dilemma that are poles apart - go figure..... A news 'bulletin' I recently read claimed that their national championship formula was due to competitor demand !
I don't remember being asked - or do I ?
I vaguely remember a questionnaire about what 'we' wanted .... But did anyone take notice ?
Yet here we are ...
People need to take into account that unlike other categories we have club racing to attend as well - and should be everyone's priority - if the clubs go under its curtains for everyone !!!
We have no rite to criticise any govt - we can't even organise a game of marbles on the back lawn ...
While you are all talking around the same subject, has anyone checked with CAMS to see just how many license holders we have left ?? It makes interesting reading to say the least.
Regardless of all the politics Rod, it is a no brainer for me to want to attend the single weekend nationals.
2 reasons -
1. I can only afford one weekend of my time - and this opens the titles up to the Bradbury's of the field to come through and gain some stardom - very healthy for our sport I believe - and makes it interesting.
2. I am and always will be a firm believer that both GB and NGB should be together. Hats off to whoever decided to offer the GB guys a run with the NGB nationals.
With this format I can support my club to the fullest and still enjoy the nationals atmosphere.
Nothing against the idea of 3 rounds - it just doesn't work for me.
I was speaking about license holders ..... well here is what we have in CAMS today ......
ACT 1 NSW 62 SA 61 VIC 72 Qld 24 WA 7
made up of
158 National Senior ( full license ) 2 National Juniors ( full license ) 65 Provisional Seniors 2 Provisional Juniors
I must congratulate NSW on their increase from the 35 of just 2 years ago to 62 now. This is the first time in 15 years that NSW has more than SA . Vic has increased by 6 and SA has dropped by 1 over that same period ( we'll put that down to Ilya Harpas for moving state ).
This is also the first time in almost 10 years that total numbers are over 200.
Queensland 24? Interesting as we dont run CAMS events in Queensland as the STR's don't allow 4WD and a winch to drag yourself out of the massive holes at Morgan Pk.
It would be good to actually have a breakdown of Cams licenses to actual active race members. I saw this because i haven't raced in three years but must have a race license to own a log book. I will race again.....only another 10kgs to lose ;)
Although i think Fat Max is thec lass to be in now in Vic!
You will need the clubs to publish their membership numbers , that's the only way you find "active" versus just those who renew to keep their license grade.
This list would have changed a bit since that date as December is our renewal month, and it shows all, I also notice a few "names" not on there. It does not show if your a current racer or not. Like me in 125 Gearbox. I haven't raced for a few years. I also do not have a "National" licence so wouldn't figure in the CAMS numbers.
